Me?! A Surfer Girl?!

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005

On Saturday, a group of friends and I embarked for the first time in the adventure known to many as surfing. I was a bit nervous about it…you know, sharks, cracking my back on a rock, wipeouts and not to mention the long drive to Bolinas in the back seat of a car resulting in car sickness… but I decided that I would probably never-ever attempt surfing otherwise and let me tell you, it was well worth it.

The lesson was concise and the instructors made me feel really comfortable. The wet suits were awesome too because we all looked like a group of superheros about to fight some underwater crime. Once we were out in the water, I knew this would be a new world that I would not be able to stay away from for long. It was so nice sitting out on your board, waiting for the right swell. I never was able to stand up all the way but got pretty darn close. I will for sure next time. Ronnie was able to stand after several tries. He is now even more hooked than I am which is saying a lot! We had a seal hang out with us for a long time. He would weave in and out of waves and follow surfers as they paddled. We stayed out in the water for 5 hours!! And damn were we hungry after!!! One of the best things I have ever felt was sitting on that beach, completely soaked through with salt water, laughing and sharing surf stories with my friends. Surfing will now be my new sport. We have even talked about going this weekend! But realistically we will wait for awhile…until next weekend!Endless_summer

La Cucaracha

Last night Ronnie and I went out to eat at this random Cuban restaurant that we have been meaning to try for a long time. The food was mediocore. I ordered a tuna enchalada and got some sort of fish stew. We also ordered some sangria that had some unidentifiable fruit bits in it. So the food wasn’t very good…nor was the drink..and neither was the service! But we tried to stay positive about it and just enjoyed eachother’s company. It wasn’t until we had finished eating that I noticed a cockroach walking on the wall next to me. I tried not to stare at it too much but I told Ronnie about it as it walked towards him…it then started to climb on his chair which freaked him out and well, we asked for the check right away and flew out of that restaurant as politily as possible… NEVER AGAIN we agreed.

After the bad dinner, we went and got at drink at Jade on Gough, then went back to his place and danced to this rad whistle mash-up song. It is like a 7 minute mix of all the clips of songs that have whisitling in it with a tempo thrown in. It was so fun to dance to!

So it has been one month as of yesterday in this thing people call “dating.” It went so fast! Holy Monettis! I just feel so lucky to have such a great person in my life….some one I can say a random movie quote to and he always knows what it is from. THAT is hard to find my friends.

Nothin’ Like a Good Rock and Roll Show!

Last night Ronnie and I joined some buddies and went to go see Ted Leo. We actually took our merry time getting there because honestly…who wants to see some openning bands when you could be drinking beer and playing pool!? So that’s what we did. We spent a lot of time at Kennedy’s, a bar across from Bimbo’s, BSing and such. We randomly ran into one of Ronnie’s friends from the New York group named Daniel. He was pretty rad. He had the same sense of humor as all of my friends, which only a less-than-normal person could understand. My best friend from years back named Andy also met us for a brew and it was so good to see him. I get so spoiled knowing he is close, that we don’t hang out nearly enough. (He used to live in Arizona) And I am so glad that Ronnie and he are such good buddies too.

Ronnie and I have been living in pure bliss the past coupla weeks. Who knew dating could be so easy? I guess it helps that we were really good friends for a year and a half. We spend a lot of our free time together lately, but I have been told that is what new couples do…and I don’t mind in the slightest. We already know eachother’s friends and families and are slowly letting people know at work…since we are co-workers. Don’t worry, I am not gonna gush toooooo much…but I can’t help to do at least a lil bit.

So back to Ted Leo…they rawk! I only knew one of their songs really well from a cd that Ronnie made me…but I still jumped and danced with my head so much that I started to get sore. Live music is so amazing. It forces you to move! Well, at least most of us. I never really understood the people who look like statues while everyone else is rocking out. Ah well…maybe they are figuring out the meaning of life right then and there.
